Believe it or not, it still works and a friend uses it to this day despite its waning battery life. In 2011, I purchased my last wireless gaming headset, a Logitech G930 (a significant upgrade, too). Finally approaching its demise after nearly five years of service, I was excited to discover the latest and greatest in headsets....

The Titanfall 2 results are very competitive as we see Vega 56 match the GTX 1070. The air-cooled Vega 64 model can’t quite catch the GTX 1080 but the liquid cooled version gets the job done, albeit at a questionable price premium. Tom Clancy’s The Division was tested using DirectX 12 and here Vega 56 trounces the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X in a true display of pixel dominance. Even Vega 64 does well, yeah the flipping air-cooled version actually beats the GTX 1080 by a handy margin and this means the liquid cooled model is hot on the heels of the GTX 1080 Ti....
Night Dive told Windows Central at the 2022 Game Developers Conference that the remake of the original System Shock is mostly finished and in a “pre-beta” state. The PC version has just about all of its content in place, but work on the console versions continues. Night Dive plans a simultaneous release this year across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. A free demo has been available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store since last year....

According to a Consumer Reports (CR) investigation published last week, TikTok has been planting trackers called “pixels” on hundreds of websites. Partnering with security firm Disconnect, CR looked into about 20,000 websites searching for TikTok’s pixels specifically. The pool included the top 1,000 most visited websites and many of the biggest, .org, .edu, and .gov domains since those tend to have more sensitive user data. The study found that hundreds of companies share data with TikTok....
Luckily, initial concerns about our preferred platform being neglected appear to have been uncalled for. The Fury X produced the best 4K result using the high quality preset, though the 40fps average didn’t feel that good and I would certainly look to downgrade the resolution or quality settings for better performance – the input lag was real. The Fury X remained in control at 4K when using the ultra-quality settings, but with 29fps minimums a second GPU will be required for playable performance under these conditions....
Several years ago, we wrote about what a mess IoT is, in that piece we pointed out that there was never going to be a single thing we can point to and say that is the IoT, different from the regular Internet. As per Bloomberg, the payment was mentioned in passing by Musk lawyer Alex Spiro during a hearing in the lawsuit on September 6. “They’re paying the guy $7 million and making sure he’s quiet,” said Spiro. Twitter’s former head of security, Peiter Zatko, who goes by the nickname “Mudge,” came forward last month to claim company executives deceived federal regulators and its own board of directors over how it protects user data, security measures, and its ability to fight spam accounts....
Yesterday brought news that Musk is set to slash Twitter’s workforce by 50% in an attempt to reduce operating costs. Bloomberg reports that employees filed a class-action lawsuit in San Francisco federal court on the same day that claims the move violates the US Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The WARN Act requires companies with 100 or more employees to provide a 60-day notice period to workers before making any layoffs affecting 50 or more people, giving them enough time to find other employment or retrain....
The eventful last few days started with Musk banning @ElonJet, one of the accounts belonging to student Jack Sweeney who tracks the private jets of the rich and famous to hold them accountable for their environmental impact. That particular account followed Musk’s jet, and it was banned despite Musk previously promising not to touch it. The Twitter owner later tweeted: “Any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation....
Even though we’re still weeks away from Intel’s 13th-gen Core CPUs announcement, Igor’s LAB has published some leaked slides confirming the full specs of the desktop Raptor Lake lineup. The company will initially release six unlocked SKUs, with the cheaper non-K processors likely arriving next year around CES. These Raptor Lake CPUs feature several improvements over their Alder Lake counterparts, including higher frequencies, twice the amount of E-cores, and more L2 and L3 cache....
Total War Warhammer is the destroyer of CPUs though this time the FX-8370 does pretty well to hang in there with the G4560. That said, even with the GTX 1060 handling rendering, the R3 1200 was 20% faster than the FX chip, so a big upgrade there. That said, as we’ve seen multiple times now, the Core i5-2500K also does well for itself. In fact, once we increase the GPU power with the GTX 1070, the 2500K is now seen matching the Ryzen 5 1400, making it a little faster than the R3 1200....
Since we’re already talking about it, let’s start with the FX-8370’s results, and again this information should really apply to anyone using the AM3+ platform. It is my opinion that Ryzen 3 offers a solid upgrade over the FX series, but how big of an upgrade will depend on the games you play and what kind of graphics card you’re using. With a card that’s equivalent to the GTX 1060 or slower, the gains for most games will be quite slim....
When Rock Paper Shotgun asked Valve whether it predicts developers will tweak PC games specifically for the device, a couple of Steam Deck team members said no. Valve seems to think improvements for the Steam Deck shouldn’t stay exclusive to the Steam Deck. Valve also said last November that it didn’t see the use in developing games only for the Steam Deck. “If we expect that people do any work, it’ll be work that just makes their game better on Steam as a whole,” said Steam Deck Designer Jake Rodkin....
Being a long-term company with a long-term vision, Ubisoft says Watch Dogs is a long-term play and so it was postponed because it simply wasn’t ready. That’s commendable considering how often games are released in an unfinished state just to meet deadlines and make sales. Battlefield 4, for example, was among the buggiest blockbusters to ship in recent memory yet it grossed well over $200 million dollars last year. Making a bad first impression wouldn’t have been the smartest way to begin a new franchise, especially when the alternative is having fans wait two quarters....
In the PC version of Elden Ring, there are three known bugs. The first is that the mouse is too sensitive “under some conditions.” The second involves Easy Anti-Cheat not launching if the player’s Steam account name uses 2-byte characters (ex. ÐÆÇØÑ). FromSoftware developers are aware of these issues and will issue a patch for them “in the near future.” The third PC bug concerns frame rate and performance. Under some hardware configurations, the game can slow down and stutter at various times....
