The Celsius Network was one of the first big casualties of the crypto crash following the collapse of TerraUSD. The decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, which operated by collecting customer deposits that it loaned out to others to earn a return, froze account withdrawals and transfers last month due to “extreme market conditions.” Celsius said customers would “accrue rewards” during the pause, though receiving any interest on the held crypto seems like wishful thinking right now....

The margin between the R9 390X and GTX 980 remains much the same. This time we see poor mixed card performance when pairing the GTX 980 with the R9 390X – this combo averaged just 67fps. However, swapping the cards around boosted performance by 22% making the R9 390X/GTX 980 combo 39% faster than a single R9 390X....

Before we discuss the multi-GPU results let’s just touch on single card results, as the performance landscape is considerably different to what we saw back a few months ago. Back then the GeForce GTX 980 Ti was faster than the R9 Fury X in both the DX11 and DX12 modes. Under DX11 the 980 Ti was 15% faster and about 2% faster in DX12. The same scenario was seen when comparing the GTX 980 and R9 390X....

According to a US securities filing made public yesterday, Musk sold 22 million Tesla shares over three days from Monday to Wednesday this week. After Musk sold $8.4 billion worth of Tesla shares in April, money that was supposed to be used to help finance the Twitter acquisition, the billionaire said he was done selling. But August saw him sell $6.9 billion more, which he said was necessary in case some equity partners didn’t come through in the Twitter deal....

Swedish media holding giant Embracer Group is already the parent company of several massive industry players, including THQ Nordic, Gearbox Interactive, Dark Horse Media, and more. Back in May, it agreed to add Square Enix Montréal, Eidos Montréal, and Crystal Dynamics to its roster. The first game to support FSR 2.2 is Forza Horizon 5 and even though the release is light on details, the key claim is improved temporal upscaling quality with additional enhancements relative to FSR 2.1. The big talking point is that AMD claims it “alleviates ghosting on fast moving objects,” which is critical for racing games like Forza Horizon, where you’ll be in motion pretty much all of the time – often very fast motion with large differences between each frame....

On Wednesday, members of the European parliament agreed almost unanimously in favor of a proposal to establish USB-Type C as the standard connection port on electronic devices. The European Commission introduced the proposal last fall. The proposed Radio Equipment Directive aims to reduce confusion over the types of cables consumers use for different devices. Another goal is to cut down on electronic waste with platform-agnostic charging ports. The preliminary proposal passed on a nearly unanimous 43-2 vote....

Nvidia’s claim that their Pascal GPUs will perform on par or close than their desktop equivalents was proven correct. Granted the Asus ROG GX800 is an extreme testbed, but even when air-cooled with SLI disabled, the mobile GPU (if you can call it that) could match our desktop test system. This means your average GTX 1080-enabled laptop should have no trouble getting within 10% of the single GPU results shown here....

So today we’ve got an old fashioned GPU battle pitting the GeForce GTX 970 against the Radeon R9 290. At 2560x1600, the GTX 670 averaged 31fps in Aliens vs. Predator, or 3% (1fps) slower than the GTX 680 and older GTX 580. It was also 6% behind the HD 7950 and 16% below the 7970. The GTX 670 averaged 40fps at 2560x1600 in Metro 2033, matching the HD 7950 and ranking just 5% lower than the HD 7970 and GTX 680.

At idle, we were surprised to find that there was quite a variance in temperature between the various enclosures. This test was conducted 20 minutes after a stress test, which should be plenty of time for the system to cool down. The Cooler Master HAF X and Lancool PC-K63 were standouts, keeping the processor, motherboard and graphics card very cool. The Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 was a disappointment as we found even with the fans set to high, the graphics card would idle 30% hotter, the motherboard was 26% hotter, while the processor was 14% hotter....

Trendforce’s Anita Wang released a report on the matter that also covers details such as sales for panel types and screen curvature. In 2021, there were 22.8 million shipments of gaming monitors compared to an estimated 20.5 million units shipped for 2022. Trendforce believes the drop is due to high inflation in Europe and the US as well as the long delay times for new graphics cards, leaving consumers to believe there’s no reason to upgrade their monitor....
