There are performance enhancements for games like Apex Legends and Forza Horizon 4, promising up to 23% faster performance compared to driver 431.60 with some RTX GPUs. We verified this already when testing the RTX 2070 Super against the Radeon RX 5700 XT, these two games in particular received hefty performance gains. Other new features include GPU integer scaling, which is fantastic for retro gaming and pixel art games. We have 30-bit color support, also introduced to a recent Nvidia Studio driver....

The Radeon HD 6670 exceeded 60fps without breaking a sweat, as did the old GeForce 8800 GS and Radeon HD 4770. Again, despite using the highest quality settings possible, old graphics cards such as the GeForce 9800 GT cracked the 100fps barrier. The ~$170 GTX 550Ti achieved 145fps.

Court filings from this week shed more light on Epic’s claims that Google paid other companies to prevent them from starting independent app distribution channels. Such alternative app stores would circumvent Android’s Google Play Store and its 30 percent sales commission, which Epic has done since Google kicked Fortnite off the storefront. Epic’s ongoing legal fight with Google claims the search giant paid Activision $360 million to keep the Android versions of its games like Candy Crush exclusive to the Play Store....

When it comes to power consumption, both cards are about equal. As you might expect, the GeForce 10 series card was slightly more fuel efficient but even so, overall system consumption as just 9% lower. Neither card requires a PCIe power connector and both run cool so I see this as a non-issue for these models. Final Thoughts Picking between these two entry-level discrete graphics cards isn’t easy. As we’ve just seen, depending on the title used for testing, one GPU can be quite a bit faster than the other....

Here we see an 18% performance boost as the overclocked Core i3-6100 took just 7.1 seconds to complete the Excel workload, making it almost as fast as the Core i5-4430. The overclocked Core i3-6100 is able to overtake the Core i5-4430 in our Photoshop CC test and moreover was able to match the overclocked FX-8320E at 4.6GHz. Again we find that the overclocked Core i3-6100 is able to deliver similar performance to that of the Core i5-4430, making it 24% faster than its standard 3....

Despite a 27% increase in frequency and increased voltages, the entire system draw was just 25% higher which was surprising. Keep in mind that the Intel HD Graphics 530 engine is disabled when overclocking, so this helps reduce power consumption. Clocked at 4.7GHz the Core i3-6100 system consumed just 110W in the 7-Zip multi-threaded benchmark. In comparison, the FX-8320E system consumption increased by 71% when boosting the frequency by 31%....

For starters, Naoki Yoshida said they’ve decided to open the Oceanian Data Center two weeks earlier than scheduled. It’ll now come online on January 25, and they’re adding five new worlds from the start as well as waiving the transfer fee. What’s more, the Home World Transfer Service will return on January 26 and will be available to all players across all data centers. Elsewhere, Yoshida said they are planning a two-phase major server expansion in North America....

It’s been over a month since Musk sent emails to Tesla executives instructing them to pause all hiring worldwide and cut employee numbers by 10%. He since clarified that the figure represents salaried workers only, while the number of hourly employees will increase. However, this still means around 3.5% of Tesla’s total workforce is being laid off, an amount he said is “not super material.” Some of those who found themselves without a job launched a lawsuit against Tesla, claiming the lack of a 60-day notice period violated federal laws....

Ford unveiled the new Lightning in May 2021, carrying on the legacy of the performance-minded pickup for a third generation. The original SVT Lightning was produced from 1993 to 1995, with the second-gen debuting in 1999 and lasting until 2004. Like its namesakes, the all-electric Lightning is big on performance. Ford is shooting for 563 horsepower and 775 lb.-ft. of torque, which should be good enough to propel the Lightning from 0-60 mph in around 4....

Foxconn has just confirmed that one of its production plants got hit by a ransomware attack in late May, disrupting production. The company didn’t disclose who the perpetrators were, but a cybercrime group using the Lockbit 2.0 ransomware has already claimed responsibility. The affected factory is located in Tijuana, on the border with San Diego, California, and it mainly manufactures LCD TVs for the Americas region. Foxconn bought the facility from Sony back in 2009....

The HD 7950 also took a $60 cut to $399, making it one of the most tempting 7000 series cards because it has no equal – or had no equal, we should say. Continuing Kepler’s rollout, Nvidia has unveiled the GTX 670, which is priced against the HD 7950 at $399. Despite being $100 cheaper than the GTX 680, the GTX 670 doesn’t appear to be much slower on paper, and that could spell disaster for AMD....

To get a fuller picture, it’s increasingly apparent that you need to factor in a card’s frame latency, which looks at how quickly each frame is delivered. Regardless of how many frames a graphics card produces on average in 60 seconds, if it can’t deliver them all at roughly the same speed, you might see more brief jittery points with one GPU over another – something we’ve witnessed but didn’t fully understand....

The TDP for the new GPU is just 75 watts and that means it doesn’t require an external power connector, so it will be the fastest graphics card available that won’t need external PCIe power. Then like the GTX 1660 Ti and 1660, there won’t be a Founders Edition version, but no big loss there. The GTX 1650 packs 896 CUDA cores, that’s 36% fewer than what you get with the GTX 1660....

The overclock resulted in a performance jump of 11% at 1920x1200 as frame rates increased from 35fps to 39fps, allowing the GTX 960 to clearly overtake the GTX 760 and R9 280X. When testing our overclock with BioShock Infinite we see that the GTX 960 became 10% faster, going from 60fps to 66fps at 1920x1200, matching the performance of the R9 285 and R9 280X. In Tomb Raider we saw a solid 11% increase in performance as the GTX 960 went from 52fps to 58fps, matching the GTX 770 and surpassing the R9 280X....

Lately you might have heard things like the 6800 XT has aged better than the RTX 3080 10GB already, and that recent driver updates have pushed it ahead. We’re not sure if that’s true, but after running both GPUs through a 50 game benchmark, we’ll certainly have our answer. As a refresher, when we tested these a year ago in a 30 game benchmark at 1080p, 1440p and 4K, we found that at 1080p the 6800 XT was ~5% faster on average, then performance was even at 1440p, while the 6800 XT was 6% slower at 4K....

While presenting the new Ada Lovelace GPU series, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang claimed the company overclocked the GeForce RTX 4090 to 3.0GHz in its labs. What that means could depend on information that might not come out until the card is in users’ hands. Leaked 4090 benchmarks reported the same number earlier this month without further details. Huang didn’t dwell on the comment before moving on (about 16 minutes into the video above), so we don’t know what kind of cooling or how much wattage Nvidia’s labs used to reach 3....

Not only is the Z68X-UD7-B3 a tad cheaper, but it delivers similar performance and overclocking abilities with a more practical configuration in our opinion. For a $360 motherboard, the G1.Sniper2’s spec sheet seems underwhelming with a single Ethernet connection, four USB 3.0 ports, one eSATA port and a standard PCI Express expansion slot setup. Naturally, it forgoes those features for components that might be more appealing to a certain audience: Bigfoot Networks’ Killer E2100 network controller and Creative’s Sound Blaster X-Fi Digital audio processor....

Gigabyte claims that running the three fans at their full speed of 4200RPM, the Radeon HD 7950 will never exceed 46 degrees. This was hard to believe before testing the card, but when remaining almost silent, it only reached 59 degrees – 24% cooler than a standard HD 7950 in our tests.
