The Radeon HD 5870 did not perform all that well at 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 in our Supreme Commander tests, roughly matching the performance of the Radeon HD 4890. However, at 2560x1600 it was the fastest single-GPU graphics card tested with an average of 52fps. This game appears to work very well with multi-GPU technology, as the Crossfire and SLI cards show a definite advantage here.
As we move on to Street Fighter IV, AMD’s Radeon HD 5870 continues to impress with an average frame rate of 132fps at 2560x1600. This made the card 1.7x faster than the Radeon HD 4870. In fact, only the Radeon HD 4870 X2 was able to rise above the 5870’s performance, delivering 21fps more at the same resolution.
