We ran 3DMark Vantage’s synthetic tests to start, and the results were pretty impressive. With a score of 6248pts at 2560x1600, the single-GPU Radeon HD 5870 managed to outperform the 4870 X2 by a 10% margin, while delivering 1.6x more performance than the standard Radeon HD 4870 card. The only contender to defeat the Radeon HD 5870 in this test was the dual-GPU GeForce GTX 295, which was about 8% faster.
