We were surprised to see less than 60fps from the GeForce GTX Titan with the medium quality settings. Moreover, we were surprised that the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and the GeForce GTX 780 delivered similar frame rates. Clearly Nvidia has some work to do here. While frame rates are not quite as important for real-time strategy titles as they are for first person shooters, I really struggle to play with an average of 30fps and I much prefer at least 60fps. This is obviously going to be an issue when playing CoH 2 as the medium quality settings at just 1680x1050 push mid-range graphics cards such as the HD 7950 to only 45fps.
Most gamers play at 1920x1200 (well, 1080p anyway) and at this resolution the high-end HD 7970 GHz Edition and GTX 780 are good for just 49fps. The GTX 770, GTX 680 and HD 7870 averaged only 41fps, while the GTX 660, GTX 480 and HD 7790, 5870 failed to hit 30fps.
It seems 2560x1600 is essentially out of the question with the GTX Titan averaging a meager 40fps while cards such as the HD 7950 and GTX 770 failed to achieve 30fps, making them pretty useless at this resolution.
