Often we find installing hard drives and power supplies into compact cases to be very difficult but it was quite the opposite with the HAF XB. Installing the 3.5" drives was extremely quick and easy thanks to the X-Dock. The 2.5" drives were just as easy to install using the supplied plastic rails.
The HAF XB also excels in cable management and we found it extremely easy to keep things tidy with loads of room under the motherboard tray. We found no real problems with the HAF XB’s layout. It easily accommodated our high-end components and the same should be true for tomorrow’s enthusiast hardware.
For our build, we installed the OCZ ZX 1000w PSU, Asrock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional, 16GB Adata memory, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, Prolimatech Megahalems, Inno3D GeForce GTX 580, two 1TB Western Digital HDDs and one OCZ Vector 512GB SSD. The HAF XB comes with standard mounting screws that you must install for your motherboard. Our 12.0" x 9.6" (30.5 x 24.4cm) Fatal1ty 990FX Professional fit like a glove.
Likewise, both the Radeon HD 7970 and GeForce GTX 680 fit with room to spare. The HAF XB as proven to be an ideal solution for extreme gamers as it can easily house several high-end graphics cards. When installing the power supply, it’s best to remove the external bracket and then slide the power supply in through the back of the case. The bracket can quickly be removed by unscrewing four thumbscrews and as with the rest of the HAF XB, we had no problems with this design.
