The first run saw the Crucial Adrenaline deliver a throughput of 66.5MB/s making it just 4% faster than the Western Digital RE4 1TB without the SSD cache. However if we ran the test multiple times the transfer speed did increase to a more impressive 115.9MB/s which was an 80% improvement over the RE4 1TB hard drive.
The program copy test is comprised of many small non-compressed files (6104 files totaling 2.75GB). The Crucial Adrenaline was much more effective when working with multiple smaller files as the first run saw it provide a 90% performance boost over the Western Digital RE4 1TB. This throughput isn’t exactly fast when compared to high-end SSDs, but it is fast against a hard drive. Running the test multiple times allowed for an additional 25% performance as the Crucial Adrenaline hit 87.3MB/s. Again this is only about half the performance of today’s SSDs but it is significantly faster than any desktop hard drive.
The game copy evaluation uses a mixture of small and large compressed and uncompressed files. Here the Crucial Adrenaline was 75% faster than the Western Digital RE4 1TB without the SSD cache enabled. Running the test multiple times allowed for another 48% performance from the Crucial Adrenaline taking the bandwidth of 117.5MB/s.
