AS SSD Benchmark shows that the m4 mSATA’s sequential read performance is very strong, as was the case when testing with CrystalDiskMark, with the drive achieving speeds on par with most other high-end solutions.
Again, like what we found in CrystalDiskMark, the m4 drives fall short when it comes to sequential write performance in AS SSD Benchmark. The mSATA variant sustained a transfer rate of 215.4MB/s, which is quite slow compared to other SSDs.
The m4 mSATA’s 4K-64 thread read performance wasn’t particularly impressive. Despite being faster than the larger m4 drive with a throughput of 166.9MB/s, Crucial’s compact offering was slower than most of the high-end drives tested.
The 4K-64 thread write performance is more inspiring, as the m4 mSATA is only slightly slower than the rest of our lineup.
The read access time of Crucial’s new mSATA offering was notably slower than its larger sibling at 0.080ms versus 0.047ms. Even so, 0.080ms is very fast, outpacing drives such as the Vertex 4.
With a lousy write access time of 0.526ms, this benchmark illustrates why the m4’s write performance has been slower than expected in many of the synthetic tests.
