The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro 100GB performed in much the same way after we ran the HD Tach full disk benchmark as it does support the TRIM function and it appears to work well. The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro is off to an impressive start with a 13% performance increase over the original Vertex when conducting our 6GB ISO file copy test. With a throughput of 84MB/s the Vertex 2 Pro is the fastest SSD we have seen taking just 72 seconds to complete the task. Compared to a modern hard disk drive, the Vertex 2 Pro is 39% faster. Because we are working with a compressed file, this could make the Vertex 2 Pro look slower than it could be in other circumstances. The SandForce SF-1500 uses some kind of compression to avoid using DRAM cache, and thus compressed files could actually slow the Vertex 2 Pro down. Regardless, it was still the fastest drive we tested here. The program copy test is mostly made up of many small non-compressed files. The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro flies through this test with an impressive throughput of 91MB/s. This made the Vertex 2 Pro roughly 17% faster than the original Vertex and 1.8x faster than a conventional hard drive. The copy took 15.4 seconds when using the Vertex 2 Pro while the Samsung hard drive took 27.5 seconds. The game copy test comprises of a mixture of small and large files. Here the OCZ Vertex 2 Pro managed a throughput of 106MB/s making it 18% faster than the original Vertex. This time the Vertex 2 Pro was 1.9x faster than the Samsung hard disk drive.
