In our single large file copy test the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB was actually slightly faster than the original Vector drive, which is surprising given we were expecting it to be slower. OCZ has likely made optimizations to the firmware since we tested the 256GB and 512GB Vector SSDs and managed to improve performance.
Here we see a considerable performance improvement from the OCZ Vector 256GB to the new Vertex 450 256GB, around 14% to be precise. The Vertex 450 256GB was actually slightly faster than the Samsung SSD 840 Pro 512GB, with transfer speeds hitting 206.7 MB/s versus the latter’s 203.4 MB/s.
Again we find the OCZ Vertex 450 256GB performing very well, taking top spot in our game copy test with a throughput of 255.3MB/s. This made it faster than both the Vertex 4 and Vector drives.
