Google has demonstrated a tool for AI to read and transcribe hastily-written prescriptions and doctors’ notes. The feature isn’t ready for public use yet but could improve the company’s existing transcription software. The prototype is one of the technologies Google presented at its 2022 Google for India event. It analyzes a doctor’s writing style and combines what it learns with known medical information. If the tool knows a patient’s symptoms along with where a doctor would likely list a medication on a prescription sheet, it can try to decipher its first and last letters....

What I will give you guys here is a brief highlights package of how the Envy x360 with its Ryzen 5 2500U performs. As reported by Bleeping Computer, HP has issued an advisory over potential security vulnerabilities that could allow arbitrary code execution with Kernel privileges, which would enable hackers to access to a device’s BIOS and plant malware that can’t be removed by traditional antivirus software or reinstalling the operating system. Both the vulnerabilities—CVE-2021-3808 and CVE-2021-3809—have a high-severity CVSS 3.1 base score of 8.8. HP hasn’t revealed any technical details about the vulnerabilities....

Meanwhile the front camera is a Samsung S5K5E2 1/5" 5-megapixel CMOS with 1.12µm pixels, paired with an f/2.8 33mm-effective lens. Both the front and rear cameras are identical to the HTC One mini 2, while the front sensor is also the same as the HTC One M8 (albeit with a different lens). It’s interesting that HTC has used a wider-angle lens for the rear camera than the front-camera, but both are wide enough for general use....

On top of this, Huawei has a poor record with software updates. With a phone like the Google Pixel you can expect monthly security patches and the fastest updates to the latest versions of Android, including a developer preview program. Uplink and Defcon developer Introversion Software has updated Darwinia for what it jokingly calls the “10,000th Anniversary Edition” (it’s really only 17-years-old this July). The developer says this is a significant under-the-hood overhaul. It’s available now as a free patch for anyone who owns the title on Steam or GOG, where it’s on sale for $2 until April 21. A report from RBC claims that Intel and AMD, two of the largest US semiconductor manufacturers, have informed their Russian partners that they would be stopping industrial chip deliveries to the country. However, these restrictions will not affect the supply chain for consumer-targeted products, such as laptop and desktop processors. “The company is closely monitoring the situation and is enforcing applicable sanctions and export control rules, including new sanctions imposed by OFAC and rules issued by BIS,” said an Intel spokesperson in Russia....

Later this month, laptops equipped with Intel’s new Arc A730M GPUs are expected to release in China. However, they might remain a region exclusive for a while, as the company recently blamed factory lockdowns and software issues for the limited availability of their lower-end Arc cards. A leaker on Weibo just posted some benchmark scores of an A730M-equipped laptop, and the results look promising. In 3DMark Time Spy, the system got a graphics score of 10,107....

I’ve found that Z590 motherboards from Asus, MSI and Gigabyte all run without power limits, or at least limits that will heavily restrict the performance of parts like the Core i9-11900K.
