Nvidia may have a new problem on its hands that comes just as the company is dealing with a massive ransomware attack. According to a post on Weibo spotted by cnBeta, a Chinese company is currently selling modified GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards on one of the country’s most popular online second-hand marketplaces. The modded graphics cards reportedly use recycled RTX 3060 laptop GPU dies as a way to circumvent Nvidia’s Ethereum hash rate limiter, known as Lite Hash Rate, or LHR for short....

The GeForce 3080 Ti is the first 80 Ti-tier card to ever come to laptops, with 16GB of what Nvidia calls the fastest ever GDDR6 RAM in a notebook—even faster than the desktop Titan RTX. Entry-level laptops featuring the 3080 Ti will set you back $2500. The GeForce 3070 Ti is a little more affordable but still starts at a hefty $1500. It is supposed to out-perform the RTX 2070 Super by 70 percent, and Nvidia touts its performance at 1440p....

The H400 has smarter cable management, supports twice as many storage devices (pre-mod), has extras such as a fan hub and LEDs, it’s just as well equipped for air cooling and it offers better water cooling support being the only mid-tower we know of that can accept a 360mm radiator in the front and/or top. Next to the 450D, the H440 is slightly bigger (2L roomier) but because of the heavy plastic and steel it weighs a little over 40% more at 10kg – heavy for a gaming case, but not unacceptable in our opinion....

The OCZ Vector showed strong performance in the CrystalDiskMark sequential read test with a throughput of 499.2MB/s, which made it 11% faster than the Vertex 4. When measuring sequential write performance the OCZ Vector was again faster than the Vertex 4, this time by a 5% margin. With a throughput of 493.4MB/s the Vector is now the fastest SSD we have tested here. The OCZ Vector also provided strong performance in the random 512K benchmark with a throughput of 411....

Through the first eight months of 2022, traffic to piracy sites increased 21.9 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. That equates to a staggering 141.7 billion visits to piracy sites across all measured categories. A deeper dive reveals television as the top media category for pirates, accounting for 46.6 percent of all pirated content. Benchmarking with Dirt 3 again showed the GTX 780 Super JetStream to be faster than a GTX Titan, rendering 97.2fps at 2560x1600 for a 4% lead along with besting the standard 780 by 13%. Despite being faster in the frames per second testing, Palit’s solution is actually slightly slower than the GTX Titan when measuring frame time performance. When driving three high resolution monitors, the Palit GeForce GTX 780 Super JetStream SLI configuration managed 57fps at 7680x1600, making it just 4% faster than the HD 7970 GHz Edition in Crossfire....

Adaptor vendor Plugable launched its USB-C or USB 3.0 to Quad HDMI Adapter (USBC-768H4) this week – a USB hub that aims to provide the easiest five-panel PC experience. In 3DMark, the new Blade Stealth is 18 percent faster than the old Blade Stealth on average, which is a respectable performance gain. The rumor comes from leaker Zed Wang (via VideoCardz), better known as MEGAsizedGPU. Assuming it’s accurate, it appears that Nvidia is making a final push to clear existing Ampere stock before the RTX 4000 series gets here—something it has been trying to do via the constant price reductions. Given that these three refreshed RTX 3000 cards are allegedly arriving in October, it could also suggest that the first Lovelace wave won’t land until later than expected, or perhaps previous claims that only the RTX 4090 is arriving this year will prove accurate....

The most noticeable difference in the above screenshots is the difference between Nvidia’s HBAO+ (Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion) and the developers’ in-house SSAO technique dubbed ‘Broad Temporal Ambient Obscurance’ (BTAO). In my opinion HBAO+ delivers a more realistic looking image and in the top left side of the above images you can notice a tree and a snowy rock face, this is where the difference can be easily seen....

Nvidia sent RTX 4090 review samples to some publications, bundled with a demo video showing Cyberpunk 2077 running on the GPU. Metrics in the demo show the press just how well Nvidia’s new flagship handles the game. It also demonstrates DLSS 3’s effects on performance, heat, and energy consumption. At native 1440p without DLSS, the RTX 4090 runs Cyberpunk at just about 60fps with every ray tracing setting at maximum....

Nvidia confirmed the long-rumored RTX 3090 Ti during its CES keynote at the start of January. Senior VP Jeff Fisher announced some details, promising that more would be revealed before the month was out. But February arrived without any word on the upcoming flagship. Nvidia did eventually give a statement about the situation: a confirmation that it had no information to share and would be in touch when it did....

Both CPUs are unlocked, meaning they can be overclocked and we suspect many of you interested in either of these will be overclocking, so that’s what we’ve done as well. However, it’s worth noting that the 2700X is basically maxed out and as a result overclocking all cores to 4.2 GHz only boosted gaming performance by up to 5%, so it’s really not worth it. With that said, in our tests we’ve squeezed maximum performance from both CPUs, so it’s all fair game....

Interestingly, the 840 Pro provided a sequential read speed of just 499.6MB/s, slightly slower than the 830’s 512.9MB/s as well as the Intel SSD 520 Series, Kingston HyperX 3K and the Crucial m4. The SSD 840 Pro delivered Samsung’s promised 450MB/s throughput in CrystalDiskMark’s sequential write test, faring 11% better than the 830 and 4% worse than the Vertex 4. Although the 840 Pro struggled in the sequential read test, it delivered significant performance gains over the 830 when measuring random 512K reads, scoring 42% faster than the 830 in addition to outpacing the SandForce-driven Kingston HyperX and Intel SSD 520 Series by a convincing margin....
