Based on this result, the team claimed they had reached a significant milestone known as quantum supremacy. While the debate about AI-assisted content is still raging on the internet and in courthouses, Shutterstock is pushing its plans forward: the stock photography giant has just opened its AI image generation platform for paying customers, promising a novel way to create artworks that can be used in professional projects but are also responsible towards original creators. Now available in beta as a part of the Creative Flow platform, Shutterstock AI is the result of a strategic partnership with OpenAI, which is providing the actual generative algorithms previously trained on Shutterstock’s own stock material....

The Core i3-7350K is considerably slower than the Core i5-7600K in Battlefield 1, though frame rates are still up there on the dual-core CPU, never dipping below 80fps. The 1600X and 7600K delivered similar minimums though it has to be said that the Ryzen CPUs offer smooth performance even with just four cores enabled. Dropping down, the GTX 1070 closes the margin and again we see that the Ryzen CPUs deliver a better minimum result than the 7600K....

The research firm noted that shipments barely budged in 2020 due to Covid-19 but rebounded significantly last year. Apple’s global market share fell three points year over year, but the company still finished in first with 30.1 percent of the market. Had Apple refreshed its Watch SE last year, it likely could have stretched its lead even further. Samsung overtook Huawei for second place and managed to finish with a 10....

Moving forward, Snap will focus on three areas of interest: community growth, augmented reality and revenue growth. Spiegel said projects that do not contribute to these priorities will be discontinued or receive substantially reduced investment. Projects already on the chopping block include Snap Originals, Games and Minis as well as Pixy, a pocket-sized drone with an integrated camera designed to follow you around and capture photos or videos. Snap announced the drone in April with a price tag of $229....

Sony is raising the retail price of its PlayStation 5 console in several regions. The company announced the move earlier today, citing a difficult global economic environment and soaring inflation. While the tech giant is increasing PlayStation 5 prices across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and even North America, though the price hike won’t affect the United States. The price hikes range from $20 to $80 and are effective immediately, except for Japan, where the change won’t hit consumers until September 15....

It’s not uncommon for a new console to be difficult to acquire at launch or during its first holiday season. That’s par for the course when it comes to the season’s most desirable gifts. What’s disheartening about this whole situation is the fact that inventory woes almost always clear up after the holidays and certainly by the following year. The PlayStation 5 is heading into its third holiday season after launching in November 2020 and things aren’t looking much better for prospective buyers that have been patiently playing the waiting game....

The MSM8974 also features a range of integrated high-speed connectivity, including a “True 4G LTE World Mode” modem that enables downstream LTE speeds of up to 150 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, and USB 3.0 (where supported by the OEM). All of these features are incorporated onto the one SoC, manufactured using Qualcomm’s 28nm HPm technology....

On the front of the Z2, Sony has integrated a 2.2-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video recording. Meanwhile, the rear camera packs 4K Ultra HD video recording, thanks to what Sony claims is increased camera IP block bandwidth provided by the Snapdragon 801. I’m sceptical of this claim, as the Snapdragon 800 found in the Xperia Z1 has been used in a 4K recording smartphone before (the Galaxy Note 3), but I’ll take the high-resolution recording regardless....

What I will do, though, is give an overview of each aspect. Starting with the software, the Xperia Z3 Compact is running Android 4.4.4 ‘KitKat’ out of the box, with a promised upgrade to Android 5.0 in the near future. The software skin that Sony is using looks visually dated and isn’t all that interesting feature wise, giving you the standard stuff you’d want from a smartphone. As I said in my Z3 review, I’m hoping that with the launch of Android 5....

The MSM8974AC features a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU, which uses ARM’s 32-bit ARMv7 instruction set. It’s paired with the ever-trusty Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 578 MHz, as well as a dual-channel LPDDR3 memory controller that’s good for 14.9 GB/s of bandwidth. This controller is directly connected to 3 GB of RAM in the Xperia Z3, the same amount as the Z2. Also in this 28nm chip you’ll find Qualcomm’s Hexagon QDSP6V5A DSP clocked at 600 MHz, which is utilized for some low-power tasks, as well as a 4K video encoder and decoder, and a selection of radios....

Let’s take a look at some benchmarks We’re seeing a GPU performance boost of 72% over the Xperia Z3, 74% over the Xperia Z2, and 105% over the Xperia Z1, making the Z5 a good upgrade on any of these handsets. It’s also 12% faster than the Galaxy S6 in raw performance, which increases to 96% on-screen considering the decrease in resolution from 1080p to 1440p. Spotify finished the second quarter with 188 million paying (Premium) subscribers, up from 182 million in the previous quarter and 14 percent more compared to the same period a year earlier. Stalker 2 was announced way back in 2010 with a 2012 release date. Unfortunately, GSC Game World hit a rocky patch and was officially dissolved at the end of 2011. The developer would return in late 2014 and four years later, announced a new version of Stalker 2 was in the works but wouldn’t be ready until 2021. More recently, GSC Game World felt the wrath of miffed gamers and walked back its decision to include NFTs in its upcoming title....

According to Which’s study of the top 800 newly discovered phishing websites, Chrome only blocks 28 percent of them in Windows and 25 percent on macOS. These numbers are in stark contrast to the top performing browser Firefox, which redirects users away from 85 percent of those websites in Windows and 78 percent on Macs. Google issued a statement to the UK news outlet Independent saying it is skeptical of Which’s findings....

The CrystalDiskMark random 512KB test measures the performance of each configuration using small data samples. Here the Synology DS410j struggles once more delivering a disappointing write throughput of just 22MB/s. This made the DS410j almost two and a half times slower than the Promise SmartStor NS4600, and roughly two times compared to the single-bay Synology Disk Station 109. The same trend repeats itself when working with small 4KB files. The Synology DS410j was again slower than the DS109, and managed to beat only the old DS107 and the Windows based budget computer configurations....

Keeping the Alpine AL-314 SoC cool is a small aluminium heatsink which lacks a dedicated fan. It has become relatively common for today’s NAS devices to use SO-DIMM slots, especially for higher-end models as this allows for upgrades to be made. Unfortunately, while the DS1515 does use SO-DIMM memory modules, there is just one DIMM slot which is of course occupied with a 2GB module. Furthermore, replacing it with a larger module will void your warranty....

The Content Creation test reduced the DS2411+’s performance to just 12MB/s, setting it just behind the DS1511+’s 13MB/s while making the device only marginally faster than the DS411+ (less than 1MB/s) and about 2MB/s faster than our Core 2 Duo test system. The DS2411+ matched the DS151+ with a bandwidth of 47.5MB/s in the Office Productivity test while outperforming our C2D test machine by about 10MB/s. Intel’s file copy test uses a single large file, so we expected similar results to our own 6GB file copy test....
