As expected, the Palit GTX 780 Super JetStream consumed slightly more power than a standard GTX 780, around 4% more, which was still 3% less than the GTX Titan. A pair Palit’s cards in SLI resulted in a total system consumption of 456 watts, 7% less than drawn by the HD 7970 GHz Edition Crossfire rig. The GTX 780 Super JetStream ran at just 79 degrees, which is the same temperature recorded by the Gainward GTX 780....

AS SSD Benchmark’s 4K-64 thread test is the first synthetic benchmark we’ve seen where the Pyro in RAID0 nearly matches the HyperX and Vertex 3, though single drive performance was still mediocre at best. The Pyro is on par with all SSDs in having a millisecond access time and the RAID0 setup made no big difference.

References to the operating system, reportedly codenamed Oak, were found in App Store upload logs and open source code. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in a 2017 report said Apple was developing a custom operating system for its headset called rOS, short for reality operating system. Sapphire has matched Gigabyte with an 1100MHz core overclock, while they left the memory at 6000MHz. Sapphire’s Tri-X cooling solution is what gives the company the confidence to push its R9 280X so far. The Tri-X cooler features three 85mm fans, each with nine blades pushing air over a very large heatsink, which extends beyond the length of the PCB. The three fans are controlled by the PCB’s single fan header, so there’s no independent speed adjustment....

The Ryzen 5 2600X and 2600 are currently apart by only $25. The X model gets the upper hand with better out of the box performance and a better cooler for $190, while the 2600 comes in at just $165. TL;DR Having extensively tested both R5 2600 models, here’s the tale of the tape: For most people, the Ryzen 5 2600 at $165 is too great to pass up, however… At stock the 2600X is ~7% faster and you get a better cooler, enough to justify the ~$25 price difference....

The SMS client uses the TouchWiz UI. It isn’t the prettiest around but users can make small theme changes. It also excels by having the ability to schedule messages and begin calling someone after placing the phone to an ear while a texting thread is open. When held in landscape, the messaging app switches to a two-pane view that shows a list of messages on the left side and one actual conversation on the right....

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 offers user a good browsing experience through its mostly-stock Android browser. Tabbed browsing makes managing multiple open pages at one time easy, and the pages all render quickly and accurately. The low’ish resolution of the display means that small text is not always entirely sharp, but overall the fast browsing speed and support for HTML video and Adobe Flash make it more than useful....

YouTube channel HDTVTest was the first to highlight a potential cheating issue in Samsung’s S95B QD-OLED TV. It appears this wasn’t an isolated incident as FlatpanelsHD found the same discrepancy on the Samsung QN95B Neo QLED LCD TV. The problem boils down to the familiar accusation of Samsung using an algorithm to detect when benchmarking software was running and adjusting its TVs accordingly. In this case, the colors were changed to make them more accurate, and the luminance was boosted by a massive 80%....

Samsung said the sensor uses a Super QPD auto-focusing solution which equips all of the pixels with auto-focusing capabilities. Super QPD utilizes a single lens over four adjacent pixels to detect phase differences horizontally and vertically for improved autofocus performance. The sensor can also combine multiple pixels into one for improved low-light shooting. For example, four pixels can become one to produce an effective 1.12 micron 50-megapixel sensor. Combining 16 pixels into one emulates a 12....

Last year, Samsung reignited the smartphone camera megapixel war with a new sensor boasting a resolution of 200 megapixels. The company calls it Isocell HP1, and it will supposedly debut in an upcoming Motorola flagship phone codenamed “Frontier” before making its way into Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series phones. Today, the company wanted to provide an update on the Isocell HP1, which is still in development. The engineers working on the new sensor wanted to test the limits of what can be achieved with such an advanced capture solution, so they set out to print a cat image on a 28-meter-wide, 22-meter-high billboard....

The 850 Evo 2TB was at the top of its class when measuring performance using PCMark 7’s importing pictures test. Its throughput of 157MB/s was quicker than the Plextor M6e and 850 Pro. The 850 Evo 2TB did fall behind the Plextor M6e and 850 Pro in the video editing test, but it was still noticeably faster than the 850 Evo 500GB model. When it came to starting applications the 850 Evo 2TB proved to be a strong performer again at 133MB/s, much faster than the Crucial MX200 and BX100 series....

Meanwhile, the mainstream-bound 960 Evo is being positioned against the likes of Intel’s SSD 600p Series – which shouldn’t be too hard to beat. Although we’re excited to be testing the 960 Pro, many of the technologies that make this product special appeared on the OEM channel earlier this year when Samsung released the SM961 (MLC) and PM961 (TLC) drives. Both of those drives pack the company’s “Polaris” SSD controller which brings a massive boost in performance courtesy of the PCIe 3....
