Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox are all inching closer to the release of their 100th version. While this may look like a nice round number to a user, it also has the potential to introduce bugs or create compatibility issues for certain websites. For some people it may even bring back memories of the infamous Y2K bug and Microsoft skipping Windows 9, but this time around the issue is related to how websites read user-agent (UA) strings to identify your web browser and its capabilities....

AMD has promised to “demonstrate how we’ll make 2022 an unforgettable year for gamers, creators and mobile PC users,” during its Product Premier livestream later today. Thanks to an Honoree award posted to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) website, we know for certain that the Ryzen 6000 ‘Rembrandt’ mobile processors will be a highlight of AMD’s show. As previously reported, the page confirms that the mobile APU chips will feature RDNA2 graphics architecture....

Cinebench R15 typically has an error margin of around 5%, though the impact of this can be reduced by taking an average of three runs, which is exactly what we have done. Looking at the single thread results we see a very slight increase in score from Windows 7 to 8.1 and then from 8.1 to 10. Certainly nothing to write home about, but this did have a greater impact on the multi-threaded results where Windows 10 was 7% faster than Win 7, though it was just 2% faster than Win 8....

Microsoft recently announced an update to the Windows 11 Game Bar, which adds an Auto HDR Intensity slider. The feature will remember the setting for each game. The update also makes the on/off toggle easier to reach. The slider comes with Game Bar version 5.721 and above. Users can update it through the Windows Store app. Games with their own HDR implementation usually come with adjustment settings. Unfortunately, using Auto HDR on other games in Windows 11 only involved an on/off switch until now....

We have known the PC version of God of War required Windows 10 as the bare minimum to run it since the system requirements were published. However, thanks to a mod developed by okt04175 and alan2350, fans can now play the action-adventure game on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1-based systems. The tweakers found a way to modify the detection behavior of the OS version, allowing them to play on Win7/8/8....

We’re definitely hoping to see some value added at the sub-$200 level. The most recent addition to this segment is the AMD Radeon 5500 XT. We reviewed it about a month ago, and in spite of offering solid performance relative to Nvidia’s GTX 1650 Super, the 5500 XT pricing is a massive let down. AMD is attempting to charge a small premium for this GPU that does nothing to improve the segment, meaning the 5500 XT isn’t worth buying at the $170-200 MSRP....

We found similar trends when testing with Adobe Photoshop CS5 as the Asus P8P67 Deluxe provided the best result while the ECS P67H2-A2 came last, making the former about 8% faster in this test. For our custom WinRAR compression test, we take a 700MB audio/video file and compress it. This took roughly the same time on all motherboards, but Asus’ board fared best while Gigabyte and ECS’ boards were at the bottom of the pile....

Using a little over 1.5v of power and the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU cooler, our Core i5 750 processor appeared to be limited to 4.20GHz, almost a 60% overclock. The EVGA P55 FTW, Asus P7P55D Deluxe and Gigabyte P55-UD6 motherboards all reached this milestone. The Asrock P55 Extreme was impressive despite just falling short at 4189MHz. The MSI P55-GD65 was also close reaching just 4180MHz. The biggest disappointment came from DFI LanParty DK P55-T3eH9 that maxed out at 4011MHz, while we were pleasantly surprised to find the affordable ECS P55H-A capable of a 3800MHz overclock....

YouTube channel Wulff Den carried out the experiment by leaving a screenshot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on his screen at full brightness 24/7. The original idea was to keep the screen running for up to seven days, but it ended up lasting 11 weeks, totaling over 1,800 hours straight. To keep the Switch from turning the screen off, Wulff attached a third-party Hori Split Pad Pro Controller that continuously performed automatic button presses....

A single still isn’t very much to go on, but what is here looks promising, with the cog-shaped vault door and jumpsuit colors matching those from the games. You can even see the outline of a Pip-Boy on the mystery person’s wrist. The Fallout show has some big names attached to the project. It’s being produced by Kilter Films, the same company behind HBO’s Westworld, and the first episode is being directed by Westworld co-creator and executive producer Jonathan Nolan....

Interestingly, while the multi-threaded performance of the A10-7800 was faster than the A8-7600 by a small margin, the single thread performance was slightly slower. The AMD A10-7800 showed huge performance gains over the A8-7600 in Futuremark’s 3DMark cloud gate test with a score of 6128pts. Despite its huge lead in 3DMark and 3DMark 06, the A10-7800 delivered similar performance to the A8-7600 when testing with PCMark 7. Here we see that the A10-7800 delivered similar performance to the A8-7600, though the small boost was enough to beat the Core i3-4130....

The AMD A8-3850 performs even better in the Maya test, surpassing both the Athlon II X4 640 and Core i5 750. Amazingly, the A8-3850 is just a fraction slower than the six-core Phenom II X6 1100T. Increasing the memory frequency had a huge impact on the A8-3850’s performance, particularly for the CPU test. Here the A8-3850 received a 25% boost and was now within striking distance of the Core i5 750....

A reader recently informed Igor Wallossek of Igor’s Lab that the Ryzen Master CPU configuration module in AMD’s Adrenalin GPU driver version 22.3.1 had altered their CPU’s settings without informing them. Wallossek’s own investigation successfully reproduced the issue. If a user has manually altered an AMD CPU’s settings in the BIOS – in order to underclock it in the reader’s case – Adrenalin might fail to load a custom GPU profile, forcing a reset....

The more expensive Ryzen 7 2700X is the only model to come with the fancy looking Wraith Prism and it’s the only 105 watt TDP part, so it does call for a beefier cooler, this model weighs in at 580 grams. Then Ryzen 7 2700 and Ryzen 5 2600X get the Wraith Spire, this model tips the scales at 372 grams making it 36% lighter, but it still sports a copper slug in the base....

AMD announced the open-source release of FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 this week. Developers can now download it from GPUOpen and start working to incorporate it into current and upcoming games. AMD also plans to release Unreal Engine 4 and 5 plug-ins for FSR soon to help the many developers using those engines. Additionally, Xbox developers have access to FSR 2.0 now, too. The Athlon II X2 250 uses a minuscule amount of power when compared to similar performing dual-core processors. The entire system used just 150 watts under load with the Athlon II X2 250 installed and 115 watts at idle. In terms of efficiency the Phenom II X2 550 was perhaps even better, hitting 168 watts under load and 134 watts at idle. Although the Intel Pentium E6300 and Core 2 Duo E7400 were also very efficient, they did consume more power....

In a sense this is better news for the mass of consumers, as the Radeon HD 6970 is a far more realistic product for most gamers at $369 than the GeForce GTX 580 is at $499. The HD 6970 held its own in our review and when compared to the GeForce GTX 570 the result couldn’t have been any tighter. Both graphics cards delivered the same experience at 1920x1200, while the HD 6970 was slightly faster at 2560x1600....

Here we see that the Radeon R9 270X is just 1% faster than the Radeon HD 7870 while it was 14% faster than the GTX 660 and just 1% slower than the GTX 660 Ti. The Radeon R7 260X was just 5% faster than the Radeon HD 7790, 5% slower than the GTX 650 Ti and 15% slower than the Radeon HD 7850. Although we see a 21% increase in performance for the Radeon R9 270X when compared to the Radeon HD 7870 in Crysis 3 at 1920x1200, keep in mind this is just 5 fps more....
