The Radeon 5700 XT is now 3-year-old GPU, so we’re somewhat intrigued to see how it stacks today. We revisited this battle a while back and found that the Radeon GPU was ~10% faster than the RTX 2060 Super, but this time we’re throwing even newer games to see how this comparison fares. For this test we’ll focus exclusively on rasterization performance as the Radeon doesn’t support ray tracing. Not that the 2060 Super’s RT support is all that useful, but opinions will vary there....

According to the latest rumors, Team Red will announce two high-end models next week, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT. Both will utilize AMD’s flagship Navi 31 GPU, which might feature a Multi-Chip-Module design with one graphics compute die and six memory dies. The latter should allow for up to 96 MB of Infinite cache in a standard configuration (or more if the company decides to use its 3D stacking technology)....

Following last month’s announcement that AMD would be giving away games with purchases of certain graphics cards, and confirmation that two of them would be Sniper Elite 5 and the upcoming Saints Row reboot, a third title has now been added to the Raise the Game pack: Forspoken. Sniper Elite 5 has quite a few good reviews and a Mostly Positive rating on Steam, while Forspoken, which arrives on October 11 (assuming there are no delays), certainly looks like it will push your new GPU to its limits....

Civilization VI is a DirectX 12 title but it plays well with the Ryzen/GeForce combo and even stock they are able to clean up the Core i7-7800X. Overclocked the R5 1600 is 14% faster than the 7800X, though it is still 10% slower than the 7700K. Dishonored 2 provides more interesting results, though they do reflect what we have seen from most of the titles tested so far. Stock the R5 1600 is 7% slower than the 7800X while quite shockingly it pulled ahead by a 9% margin once overclocked, an incredible result for the red team here....

For compression and decompression work the 2600 is 11% faster than the 1600 which is a seriously impressive improvement. This puts it almost on par with the Core i7-7800X, a CPU that costs almost twice as much. The 2600 does trail the 7800X by a rather large margin for our HandBrake test though once overclocked it does rapidly close in. Of course you can overclock the 7800X and we’ll look at those results in a future video....

Apple first introduced the iPhone “s” variants in 2009. The label stood for speed back then, but is now indicative of a “tock” in Apple’s annual tick-tock release cadence. S models are typically characterized by modest refinements, and while they traditionally afford at least one defining feature – the iPhone 4s introduced Siri and the 5s delivered Touch ID – they aren’t known for generating the same sort of fanfare as generational updates....

Apple Music and Apple TV+ subscribers will see their subscription prices increase by $1 or $2 starting Monday, while the Apple One bundle jumps to $3. No other Apple subscriptions have hiked their prices so far. The company’s music subscription service now costs $10.99 per month for an individual (previously $9.99), while the new family plan price is $16.99 (up from $14.99). The annual subscription rate is now $109 (formerly $99)....

Apple is still on track to launch an updated version of its AirPods Pro in the second half of 2022. Kuo believes Apple could be preparing to discontinue the original AirPods Pro once the second-gen buds launch later this year to avoid making the same mistake again. Second-gen AirPods are still available directly from Apple priced at $129. The third-gen AirPods command $179 but up the ante with spatial audio, improved battery life and an IPX4 rating against sweat and water....

Arma Reforger is available now in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview for $30, with a free trial on Xbox. Bohemia Interactive didn’t mention PlayStation, but last week’s leak said the company plans to support Sony’s platform eventually. For now, Reforger contains three multiplayer modes, mod support, and a recreation of a map from the original Operation Flashpoint. “Conflict” and “Capture & Hold” modes pit teams of players against each other to capture control points....

Intel’s Smart Response continued to amaze us when testing 512K performance, as the read rate skyrocketed from 32.6MB/s to 103MB/s and write throughput jumped 2.5x to 52MB/s. Random 4K-QD32 performance was also drastically improved by SRT, resembling the results of a low-end dedicated SSD.

The gizmo is powered by an ATtiny85 microchip and features a 0.91-inch OLED screen. Four soft-click buttons flank the screen (two per side), and it’s all powered by a single CR2032 coin battery. A small power switch is positioned on the bottom edge of the handheld. The whole thing measures just 1.58 inches wide. The handheld’s creator says your high score is saved when you finish a game but if you power down before completion, your score will not be saved....

Running Battlefield Bad Company 2 at 2560x1600 showed the GeForce GTX 580 to be 15% slower than the Radeon HD 5970. We were happy to find that the GeForce GTX 580 provided a 17% increase over the GTX 480, and it was 31% faster than the Radeon HD 5870.

We ran 3DMark Vantage’s synthetic tests to start, and the results were pretty impressive. With a score of 6248pts at 2560x1600, the single-GPU Radeon HD 5870 managed to outperform the 4870 X2 by a 10% margin, while delivering 1.6x more performance than the standard Radeon HD 4870 card. The only contender to defeat the Radeon HD 5870 in this test was the dual-GPU GeForce GTX 295, which was about 8% faster....

To play Battlefield 1 without dipping below 30fps at 1080p using the ultra-quality settings gamers will only require a Radeon RX 460 2GB or GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card. Jumping to a minimum of 40fps calls for the GTX 950 or old HD 7950. For the desired 60fps we recommend the GTX 970 or R9 290. Now at 1440p the GTX 770 or HD 7950 Boost are required to keep the frame rate above 30fps at all times....

The Radeon HD 5850 was just as impressive and it matched the performance of the GeForce GTX 285. Neither card dipped below 70fps while the average was over 110fps. Ideally, for constant smooth gameplay we like a minimum frame rate of around 60fps and this was achieved by the GeForce GTX 260 and the other six graphics cards ranked about it on our graph. That said, graphics cards producing minimum frame rates of 40fps will still deliver perfectly playable performance most of the time....

Even the HD 6750 managed to score 60fps at 1680x1050, while the GeForce GTS 450 and HD 6670 earned 58fps and 51fps – very playable for a slow-paced game like Civilization. Interestingly, the rebadged HD 6670 was about 7fps faster than the older HD 5670 on average. When maxed out, Dragon Age II is pretty demanding, but it tames down quite a bit when on medium. At 1680x1050, the Radeon HD 6790 claimed a momentary taste of supremacy with 92fps....

Despite supporting dual-channel DDR3-1600 memory, the Atom C2750 doesn’t deliver much in the way of memory bandwidth at 15.6GB/s, which is comparable to the AMD A8-7600. The Atom C2750 was quite fast when measuring L2 cache performance though its L1 cache wasn’t as impressive compared to the Core i3, yet it’s still snappy next to the Pentium G3220. The low-clocked Atom C2750 offers pretty weak single core performance, scoring just 0....

Sony sold two million PS5 units in the fourth quarter of its financial year 2021. That brings overall sales of the console to 19.3 million, but it’s still down from the 3.3 million units it sold in the same quarter a year earlier. Additionally, Sony reports that 11.5 million PlayStation 5 machines were sold throughout the financial year, significantly fewer than the 14.8 million it had originally planned—an amount that would have seen the PS5 match or outsell the number of PS4s at the same point in its lifecycle....

A tough act to follow for the competition, even for the likes of Intel, Corsair announced the Force MP500 SSD shortly after the release of the Samsung 960 Series. The Force MP500 is a high-speed NVMe SSD targeting power users. The drive takes advantage of the more desirable MLC type NAND flash. However, unlike the 960 Pro series, capacities are available below half a terabyte. In fact, Corsair is offering this new series with a maximum capacity of 480GB while it is also possible to purchase a 240GB version and even a piddly 120GBer....

There are many things that the 350DW does well and while its ability to house high-end parts stands out, we also really appreciate its cable management, universal black paint job, spacious design, no-fuss tool-less system and its preinstalled fans. The list of dislikes is comparatively small, though we definitely wish there was an optional extra 3.5" bay cage for those who don’t intend to install an extra-long GPU.
