As expected, the 12-bay Synology DS2413+ is fairly power hungry when outfitted with half a dozen hard drives. Under load, the unit consumed up to 67 watts, which is considerably more than the 2-bay DS713+’s 31 watts. That said, it did consume 53 watts with the DX513 expansion unit which takes drive support of the DS713+ up to seven. When left to idle the DS2413+ consumed just 39 watts.
